There are so many tiny parts of our lives that we take for granted. From the shoes, clothes, and food we have to the daily necessities we take part in like brushing our teeth, going to school, and having a warm bed to sleep in.

Through my time volunteering at Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, NJ, I came to love the children there. These are kind, motivated, and wonderful kids who love to tell jokes and give the occasional sweet compliment. Unfortunately, a lot of the amazing kids that I've met don't have access to basic necessities like toothbrushes nor do they have access to many educational materials like books. After learning that many of their families lack these, I promised myself that I would be able to help them access these daily necessities. To me, every donation is a piece of caring and comfort that a community can give if they come together.

My name is Libi Abehssera and I am the vice president of CC4U.
I am currently a high schooler in the Bergen County Area of New Jersey, and know how important personal hygiene is to underprivileged areas. By also volunteering at Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children in Paterson, NJ, and helping underprivileged children learn English and Math, I recognize the need for helping people in similar economic states. Many of the children we help don't have the same type of access more advantaged areas have. especially with hygiene, which is why I want to help.
When traveling over the world, it is more common to see disadvantaged people who lack good access to hygiene, coming from a personal experience. This is also a huge reason to why I am dedicated for this cause.

My family originates from very humble beginnings, and my parents never let me forget it. Both my grandparents and my father come from the Philippines and grew up impoverished. They came to the United States to build a better life for their future and their families. I've truly come to see how privileged I am to have access to essential items such as dental care, books, food, etc., while some people in the Philippines have been less fortunate.

My name is Jiada Guevarra and I am one of the Vice Presidents/Co-founders of this organization.

I started the Balikbayan Project alongside my peers within this organization, my community while asking for donations, and my family in the Philippines, giving me resources on where to send the generous donations.
Being a part of this organization is truly an honor and one of the greatest opportunities I have had to give back.
